Discord alternative
Discord weighing down your game? Talk to your squad on up to 25 MB.
GGspeak is group voice chat built from scratch for gaming. No browser under the hood: it sits in the tray and leaves the memory to your game.
- Up to 25 MB in a call
- 1080p screen sharing
- No password
- Free in beta
Why one is heavy and the other isn’t.
Discord is built on Electron: a whole browser packaged as an app. That makes it easy to build lots of things, from bots to shops, but it costs memory. In normal use, it reaches 1 GB of RAM.
GGspeak was built from scratch just for voice, with no built-in browser. The whole window fits in less memory than a single browser tab: up to 25 MB in a call. What’s left goes to your game, and you feel it when the match loads.

When it’s worth switching.
- Your PC struggles when the match loads with Discord open next to it.
- Your squad only needs voice, screen sharing and a quick chat in the channel.
- You want to join the call without remembering a password or confirming a phone number.
- You want to see real ping, right next to each name.
When Discord still does more
- Your community runs on bots and roles. GGspeak has owner, admin and member, but no bots.
- You talk to your squad from your phone. There’s no mobile app yet.
- You play far from South America. Our only server is in São Paulo, Brazil, for now; servers in other regions are on the way.
- You’re on a Mac. There’s a test build, still without Apple’s signature and without screen sharing.
You can use both: your community on Discord and the call on GGspeak.
FAQ
Does GGspeak replace Discord?
For group voice while you play, yes: voice and text channels, invite links, global push-to-talk and screen sharing. A mobile app, direct messages and bots don’t exist yet.
Can I use both at the same time?
Yes. Keep your community on Discord and take the call on GGspeak. You pick the keys for GGspeak’s shortcuts, so they don’t clash with other apps.
Why does Discord use so much memory?
It runs on Electron, a whole browser packaged as an app. In normal use, it reaches 1 GB of RAM; above 4 GB, Discord restarts itself. GGspeak was built from scratch just for voice and uses up to 25 MB in a call.
How does my squad join?
Send them the invite link. Anyone who has the app lands right in the channel; anyone who doesn’t downloads it from the invite page and joins the right channel.
Do I need a phone number or password?
No. To create an account, GGspeak only asks for an email and a nickname. To sign in, you click the link sent to your email or type the 6-digit code.
Is it free?
Yes. Voice, chat and moderation are never paid, and 720p screen sharing is free too. If you want more, you can subscribe to GG+ or boost your community’s HQ, both optional. Pricing is at ggspeak.app/en/pricing.
Try it in your next match.
Download, sign in with your email and send the channel link to your squad. If it’s not for you, Discord is still there.
